| After the highs and lows of Cadwell Park's National Superstock
meeting, Paul really wanted to stamp his mark with the Yamaha YZF-R1. We
still couldn't manage to get the revised suspension so had to run a harder
spring again. With a few revisions for Mallory Park, the bike went well in practice and Paul managed to comfortably clock a 59-second lap, but still a good 2 seconds of Pauls best. Again, back in the pits Paul and his team altered the rear suspension to cope with the bumps and harsh braking of Mallory Park. Race One, Alamo Qualification Race: Race one was a short race to determine the qualifying positions on the grid. Paul started 17th and worked his way up to 6th while clocking a personal best time of 56.7 seconds. Paul was happy with this but said the rear was still spinning and not gripping and giving him the confidence to push harder. |

Race Two, 1300CC Open: Paul Started from 16th and got through to 8th, working his way to 4th for the chequered flag, getting his lap times down to 56.7 - again bettering his PB. Race Three Alamo Final: Starting from 6th, Paul was just trying to keep with the leaders, which he managed and was able to sit behind them and watch their lines and see how they got their power down so early. Paul managed to move up the fifth place before finishing the race. |

Race Four 1300cc Open: This time Paul had been given 29th on the grid and with a flying start, was in the lead by the first corner and managed to gap the whole field by three seconds by lap four. Lady luck was against Paul as the race was red flagged after a big pile up at the hairpin, causing the race to be re-started. |
The re-start was from original grid positions so Paul had it all to do again. This time Paul got up to 5th, taking 4th under-braking for the hairpin and then 3rd coming out of Bus Stop. The re-run had been dropped to 5 laps and Paul managed to climb to third place before ran out of time trying to catch the leaders. 3rd was a good result but Paul still wants a win! Back in the pits Paul found out he had clocked 56.1 and was pleased but hopeful of better results next time around. |
