| 2005 / BEMSEE / MRO 600 Supersport: The year started with a very low budget but in the few rounds I competed in, I managed to get a couple of podiums and a handful of top ten finishes. 2004 / BEMSEE Nationwide (Rookie 600): This year I needed to learn the tracks due to stepping up to the BEMSEE nationwide, but due to a lack of money I could only compete in ten of the twenty-two rounds. 2003 / Drayton Croft Mallory Trophy: Local company PR Services took me under their wing and provided me with a Suzuki GSXR 600 to compete in the Drayton Croft Mallory Trophy. Prior to this, I had never been on a 4-stroke, let alone anything bigger than a 125! I finished the season in fifth place, behind Malcolm Ashley (current BSB rider) and R6 cup rider Peter Ward. On October 12th I also competed in the British Superbike Race of the Year and finished 2nd and rode the fastest lap (the race was also cut short...). 2002 / EMRA 80-125cc: My first ride on a circuit was on a rent-a-racer for Rodger Stuart Racing on a 1993 Honda 125. The championship was run at Mallory Park... going into the final round, I was in first place in the championship to Dave Page (a Manx TT regular). In the first race, I managed to get the hole-shot but go slipstreamed over the line by his 2001 bike. This left me just one point ahead going into the very final race. Both Page and I got uncharacteristically bad starts and let two racers get away from us. Page and I swapped positions throughout the race but going into Gerard's on the final lap I managed to go under him, pushing him wide and breaking the tow, before finishing third in the race and winning the championship by six points. |
